VARIANTS: In 1894 the left hand panel was replaced in the triptych by a new design by Chikanobu and published by the same publisher in 1894 as two variants; one under the title, Our Forces Occupying Weihaiwei, the other Great Sino-Japanese War in the Vicinity of Asan. The former is documented in this collection within Manchuria Campaign Capture of Wei hai Wei :
