Shokoku Meisho

Jacuchu, a National Treasure, on occasion employed a method called taku hanga (rubbing prints). This method used woodblocks nto resemble a Chinese technique of ink rubbings if inscribed slabs. This technique allows the background of the scroll to be black. Several of his designs were recreated in the 1930s.
