Interesting scene of the young Shinobu battling with her father’s murderer, Shiga Danshichi. She and her sister Miyagino, swore to avenge his death, and after secretly training in the martial arts, challenged Shiga to a duel. The fight takes place in an arena enclosed by cloth panels with samurai and noblemen gathered to watch. Shinobu wields a sickle at the end of a chain, wearing a pink kimono over a suit of armour, the sleeves tied back with a sash. A man behind her beats a drum hanging from a branch. Nicely detailed.
